At National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), we firmly believe that great teachers shape great futures. Guided by this philosophy, the “NUST Centre for Teaching and Learning” has been established as a dedicated platform to enhance teaching excellence for faculty members across the university.

The Centre is already playing a pivotal role in strengthening the pedagogical capabilities of our faculty. Its contribution is particularly significant for newly inducted faculty members, many of whom have recently completed their PhDs or postdoctoral training but may have limited formal teaching experience. Through a structured and comprehensive approach, the Centre equips them with essential competencies in pedagogy, understanding how learning occurs, emotional intelligence, teaching the Gen Z, Gamification and a wide range of complementary teaching-related skills.

A distinctive feature of the Centre is the active involvement of senior faculty members as trainers/facilitators. This not only ensures the transfer of valuable experience, competence and institutional knowledge but also fosters meaningful engagement between senior and junior faculty. In addition, it promotes interdisciplinary collaboration by connecting faculty members across different schools within the university.

Furthermore, the Centre offers a diverse portfolio of workshops that faculty members can either request or enroll in, enabling continuous professional development and targeted upskilling in specific areas.

Overall, the Centre has become an integral part of NUST’s academic ecosystem. It is not only empowering both new and existing faculty to excel in their teaching roles but also making a significant contribution to the holistic development of our student body.
