AI In Classroom
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is rapidly transforming higher education by reshaping how teaching, learning, and assessment are designed and delivered. AI-powered tools can support faculty members in developing instructional materials, creating assessments, providing personalised feedback, analysing student performance, and enhancing student engagement. As AI becomes increasingly integrated into academic environments, educators need to understand both its opportunities and its limitations to ensure its responsible and effective use in teaching.
This session introduces newly inducted faculty members to the practical applications of AI in higher education and explores how AI can complement—not replace—the role of the teacher. Participants will become familiar with commonly used generative AI tools such as ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, and other educational AI platforms that assist in lesson planning, content creation, formative assessment, and classroom interaction. The session also emphasises the ethical considerations surrounding AI, including academic integrity, data privacy, bias, and responsible use in educational settings.
The module further highlights strategies for integrating AI into classroom teaching to promote active learning, creativity, and critical thinking. Faculty members will learn how to design AI-assisted learning activities, create meaningful assignments that encourage ethical AI use, and develop assessment methods that measure higher-order thinking skills. The session encourages educators to leverage AI as a teaching partner while maintaining academic standards and fostering independent learning among students.
The workshop follows an interactive and hands-on approach, allowing participants to explore AI tools through practical demonstrations and real classroom scenarios. By the end of the session, faculty members will gain the confidence to integrate AI responsibly into their teaching practices while preparing students to use emerging technologies effectively in their academic and professional lives.
