Modules Working on LMS & Qalam

Working on LMS & Qalam

Working on LMS & Qalam:

The first module focuses on familiarizing newly inducted faculty members with NUST’s indigenous digital information management systems — LMS and Qalam — which play a central role in managing academic processes, student engagement, and institutional record management.

These platforms collectively support faculty in handling academic affairs efficiently, ranging from course management and attendance tracking to assessment administration and documentation of student performance. Since both systems require a practical level of operational understanding, this module provides hands-on exposure to ensure smooth academic integration of new faculty members into the NUST ecosystem.

To facilitate effective learning, the session is conducted under the guidance of senior academic leadership, subject specialist, along with dedicated teams of Qalam, LMS, and ERP Coordinators representing various schools and departments. Their collective expertise enables participants to understand not only system functionality but also institutional best practices and compliance requirements.

The workshop adopts an interactive approach, allowing participants to navigate real-time academic scenarios such as course creation, attendance management, assessment uploads, grading mechanisms, and academic record maintenance.

Learning Outcomes:

  • By the end of this module, participants will be able to:
  • Develop a clear understanding of the functional differences between LMS and Qalam, and identify which platform is used for specific academic and administrative requirements.
  • Efficiently utilize system features including attendance management, quiz and assessment handling, grade submission, and academic record keeping.
  • Understand institutional policies, procedures, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) governing the effective and compliant use of both systems.
  • Gain confidence in managing course-related responsibilities digitally, ensuring transparency, accuracy, and consistency in academic processes.

Duration of the Session: 2-3 Hours
